Coincidence?

I thought that I was behind in the assignments but when I went to the wiki this morning I discovered that all the time I spent on Google Reader and learning how to use it was exactly what we were doing this week. My sister is pretty experienced at all of the new technologies we are learning and she’s been coaching me and sending me more helpful sites. She has friends who are studying how to teach technophobes (my word) or those computer illiterate people how to learn all of these things without encountering major overload. I am finding this fascinating and am very excited about learning, but there’s only so much time in the day! I did spend the night of the superbowl iming with my sister in Oregon, my nephew in Brewster and her friend in another part of the country all while watching the superbowl and trying to pay attention to the game and the commercials. I love that I can chat with my sister every day if I need to…it makes me feel so much more connected to her. And having a mentor for all of this new information doesn’t hurt either! I will continue to plod along and get to the assignments when I am able. Chatting at night seems to work the best for me.

I love all the new learning that is going on in this workshop but I find that I get off track easily because I’m finding so many cool sites that I’ve never seen before. If I have all the time in the world, I could be quite a computer junkie! Unfortunately(?), I must work and continue to keep my life running. Funny, my husband actually likes to talk to me sometimes, but we can both get carried away online and before we know it, the night has gone by and we have barely spoken a word to each other. Like I said before, I love all the learning taking place and will continue to plod along and try to keep up with the assignments.

Hello world!

This is my first time ever using a blog. Being a Public Services Librarian, one of my roles is to schedule programs for adults and let our community know that they are happening. I’ve heard that this is a very effective method for informing people and easier to update the web page than what we’ve been doing. And besides, I need to keep up with some of the new forms of technology so I can inspire others to use them!
